Global Universities Alumni Union

Background

 

The Global University Alumni Union ("GUAU") was established by a group of enthusiastic universities alumni from local and overseas universities alumni associations. The Board is composed of heads from various university alumni associations. GUAU has got support from Hong Kong chapters of more than 50 university alumni associations from around the world. Members consist of the executive committee members of a number of university alumni associations. GUAU is based in Hong Kong and faces the world. Hong Kong is experiencing stagnation in development and is surpassed by competitors around. There is cleavage of views within society and turmoil around the world. In view of such circumstances, as social elites, university graduates should timely offer constructive suggestions and solutions regarding social issues for the sustainable development of society and the peoples' long-term well-being. Since Hong Kong and returned overseas elites have different background, education, development and ideas, through the consolidation of multi-angled thinking, we can provide a more comprehensive proposal for the community and the government and deliver positive energy. GUAU organizes various activities to strengthen members’ sense of belonging and contribution to society to promote social prosperity and stability.

背景

全球大學校友會聯盟(“本聯盟”)是由一群熱心關切社會的本地大學校友會及海外大學香港校友會骨幹精英所發起及組成，會董集合了各地大學校友會的領袖，並獲得50多間世界各地的大學香港校友會支持。會員由各地大學校友會的執委成員所組成，立足香港，面向全球。鑑於近年來香港的發展停滯不前，被周遭競爭對手超前，社會内部亦有分裂現象，世界各地局勢亦動盪不安，本聯盟認為大學畢業生作為社會精英及棟樑，為了社會的持續發展，為了民眾的長遠福祉，應適時對社會問題提供建設性建議及解決方案。由於本港及海外回歸精英的背景、教育、成長及思考不太相同，透過圓融多角度思維精粹，可替社會及政府提供更全面的建議，發揮正能量。本聯盟通過舉辦不同類型的活動，加強會員對社會的歸屬感及貢獻，促進社會繁榮穩定。
